Terms of Service
Effective date: February 28, 2026 · GearGarage is a US-only service.
1. Introduction
These terms and conditions apply to the Gear Garage app (hereby referred to as "Application") created by Gabe Runte (hereby referred to as "Service Provider") as a free service.
Upon downloading or utilizing the Application, you are automatically agreeing to the following terms. It is strongly advised that you thoroughly read and understand these terms prior to using the Application. GearGarage is intended for use by US residents only.
2. Eligibility
You must be a US resident, at least 13 years of age, and have a valid Strava account to use GearGarage. By using the Application you represent that you meet these requirements.
3. Account & Access
The Application stores and processes personal data that you have provided to the Service Provider in order to deliver the Service. It is your responsibility to maintain the security of your device and access to the Application.
The Service Provider strongly advises against jailbreaking or rooting your phone, as doing so could expose your device to security vulnerabilities and may cause the Application to not function correctly or at all.
4. The Service
GearGarage helps runners track shoe mileage by connecting to Strava activity data. The Service Provider is dedicated to keeping the Application beneficial and efficient, and reserves the right to modify the Application at any time. Any charges will be clearly communicated before they are introduced.
Shoe specifications (weight, stack height, drop) are sourced from third-party data including Running Warehouse and AI inference. These figures are estimates and may not reflect exact manufacturer specifications.
5. User Content
You may submit reviews, ratings, and photos through the Application. By submitting content, you grant the Service Provider a non-exclusive license to display that content within the Application. You are responsible for ensuring that any content you submit does not violate the rights of others.
Your reviews and display name are visible to other logged-in users. Your email address is never shown publicly.
6. Strava Data
GearGarage accesses your Strava account data — including activities, gear, and profile information — solely to provide shoe mileage tracking. Your Strava data is not sold or shared with third parties. You may revoke access at any time from your Strava account settings.
7. Intellectual Property & Prohibited Conduct
Unauthorized copying or modification of the Application, any part of the Application, or our trademarks is strictly prohibited. Any attempts to extract the source code of the Application, translate it into other languages, or create derivative versions are not permitted. All trademarks, copyrights, database rights, and other intellectual property rights related to the Application remain the property of the Service Provider.
8. Disclaimers
Some functions of the Application require an active internet connection. The Service Provider cannot be held responsible if the Application does not function at full capacity due to lack of Wi-Fi or exhausted data allowance. If you use the Application outside of a Wi-Fi area, your mobile network provider's terms apply and you may incur data charges, including roaming charges outside your home territory.
While the Service Provider strives to keep the Application updated and accurate, they rely on third parties for some information and accept no liability for any loss you experience as a result of relying on this functionality.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, the Service Provider shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Application. The Service Provider is not responsible for any loss of data or inaccuracies in shoe mileage calculations.
10. Termination
The Service Provider may cease providing the Application and terminate its use at any time without notice. Upon termination, the rights and licenses granted to you in these terms will end and you must cease using the Application and, if necessary, delete it from your device.
11. Changes to These Terms
The Service Provider may periodically update these Terms and Conditions. You are advised to review this page regularly for any changes. The Service Provider will notify you of any changes by posting the updated Terms and Conditions on this page.
