Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get set up?
The best order will be to 1. Fill out your Profile, 2. Add shoes to your Shoe Garage, 3. Connect and Sync Strava activities, 4. Assign shoes to activities!, 5. Review shoes, compare segment performance and more!
Can I get this as an app in the App Store?
Hopefully soon! For now, iPhone users will have the best experience by visiting the app on Safari and choosing 'Share > Add to Home Screen'. Then it will function like a normal app!
How do I connect my Strava account?
Go to the Activities page and click 'Connect Strava'. You'll be redirected to Strava to authorize access. Once connected, your activities will sync automatically.
How do I assign shoes to activities?
On the Activities page, each activity has a dropdown to select a shoe. You can also use the bulk assign feature to assign the same shoe to multiple activities at once.
What are segments?
Segments are specific sections of roads or trails that Strava users have created. The Segments page shows your performance on segments you've run, helping you compare different shoes on the same terrain.
How do I add a new shoe to my garage?
On the home page (Shoe Garage), click 'Add shoe'. Search for your shoe model, select a colorway if available, and optionally add a nickname and upload a custom photo.
Can I upload my own shoe photo?
Yes! When adding or editing a shoe, you can upload a custom photo. This photo will be used throughout the app instead of the default shoe image.
How does the shoe comparison (Toe-to-Toe) work?
Select two shoes that you've worn on the same segments. The comparison shows which shoe was faster on average across shared segments, helping you understand real-world performance differences.
Why aren't my segments loading?
Make sure you have Run or TrailRun activities synced from Strava. Then click 'Load Segment Data' on the Segments page. This fetches segment information from Strava for your recent activities.
How do I retire a shoe?
On the shoe detail page, click the menu and select 'Retire'. Retired shoes are moved to a separate section and won't appear in shoe selection dropdowns.
